This conservative dental restoration procedure involves special bonding process that ensures a strong bond of resin to dental enamel. Only healthy and clean tooth structure is required and no extra drilling away of tooth unless infected or diseased, The dentist will then sculpt layers of various shades of material over your teeth, incrementally building onto and masking the imperfections on the original tooth, set in place by a special light. It requires meticulous attention and skill to perform and may take up to one hour per tooth to complete.
The quality of the results of the bonding procedure is very technique sensitive, meaning the artistic skill of the dentist has lot to do with how good it will look and how long it will last. Our patients are very pleased with our results, and we have created impactful enhancements ranging from very subtle change to dramatic smile redesign and makeovers.
On average, these restorations last 5-10 years, and will last longer with good dental care. One drawback is that resin composite is not as strong as other options such as porcelain veneers. Therefore, these will require periodic maintenance to remove stains and repairs to minor chipping.
